Flexibility is the word most often used by the satisfied, nation-wide customers who use the Oil and Gas Info-Solution System (OIS) offered by SolutionWare, Ltd. This flexibility takes many forms. It is readily apparent in the modular design approach which allows the customer to install only those functions which are required to solve the current priority jobs. For example, if the main concern is the collection of money owed to the company from joint interest billing expenses, there is little reason to have to install revenue distribution functions at the same time. Installing only Joint Interest Billing and Accounts Receivable enables the customer to focus attention on this priority area, rather than diluting valuable management and personnel time in other areas of lesser urgency.

The modular design concept lets customers "mix and match" modules to fit their unique priorities and needs. This can be done with absolute confidence because, though modular, the system is also totally integrated. Integration allows individual modules to pass information back and forth through pre-defined channels. As a result, the user need enter data only once into the computer, knowing the system will post it where necessary. For example, one invoice entry, as user option, may impact not only accounts payable, but also joint interest billing, priority history, AFE, and general ledger. Data processed in this unique manner, known as singe source entry, greatly reduces the number of times a piece of paper needs to be handled in the office.

Another aspect of flexibility are the codes used by the system. OIS does not come to the customer with a pre-set, pre-defined, non-flexible set of codes. Rather, the majority of codes utilized by the system are those which the customer may define to the system. This approach extends from codes for recording expenses to the General Ledger 'Chart of Account' numbering structure.

The design of a system to answer the needs as complex as those in the oil and gas industry takes time, talent, industry knowledge, and continued dedication. The system is continually being enhanced to meet the challenges presented by the ever changing oil and gas industry. Another aspect is the training of customer personnel to use the system. Included in the cost of OIS is training time for customer personnel. This training is done for each customer in a "live" computer training room. Instructors teach both the use of the system and the unique functional options that may be needed by each customer.

The SWL programs are easy to use as proven by the many installed customers who have never utilized a computer before. The ease-of-use features make it possible, normally, to have the system fully operational within 90-120 days. This period allows for training, initial data preparation, data entry, and parallel runs with current procedures.
